Well, Hello To You Too Morning!

French Toast.
I woke up around 3 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep so I  decided to get up and make a lovely breakfast for myself and Charlotte. Char was in a bit of hurry so it was just me. Still, a lovely Monday morning. Audi helped me take pictures though. She's just so thoughtful that way.

Slip Drawings

I started these so I could use up some slip that's been drying out in my studio. They're so much fun though. I want to arrange them in sets of four as wall pieces. I want two to be white and two to be gold. Gold glazes are expensivvvve though :(

As some of you may or may not be aware of, there are a good number of asian romantic comedies, and dramas on Netflix as well as Hulu. We will never really know why they chose to create such an extensive collection of this genre but I'm incredibly glad they did.

I know you're think it's ridiculous and that you could never bring yourself to suffer reading subtitles to a show; especially shows as random and laughable as these, but believe me, you'd never regret it.

It all started on a whim. One night at 3 in the morning, a bottle of wine and a severely limited selection of good movies on Netflix took me to Boys over Flowers; Korea's ultimate entertainment contribution to the world. Apparently a smash hit in South Korea, this show is the epitome of everything you will find in an asian drama.
Poor yet spunky female protagonist
Rich, emotionally stunted, feminine boys
Evil side characters who like emotional and physical abuse
(mostly aimed at the female protagonist)
Kidnappings
Inappropriate music for key scenes
Melodramatic responses to easily solvable problems
Being threatened with a knife
Makeovers
Parents who don't listen their children
Random and unnerving use of the english language
And last but not least, horrible production value

Since then, I've watched a fair few of these shows and, honestly, each one is even better than the last. So here's what I've been thinking, once a week I'll make a post giving a review of each series and I'll let you know which ones are great for an afternoon and a laugh, and which ones just drag on and on (which most tend to do).

Important side note, tv shows work a little differently in Korea. They run on a quick and limited basis. Shows usually air with about 20 episodes, showing two new episode a week. So while we love to drag things out here in America, (Grey's Anatomy is on year 7, season 9, episode 172 ) Korea airs each show in about 10 weeks time, end it, and then move on the next big thing. So starting a show shouldn't take too much of your time.

So in a few days I'll be posting my first "review". In the mean time, I'd definitely suggest you get on this bandwagon. It's gonna be big.

Appalachian Trail

First piece of equipment! A lovely (slightly late) birthday present from dear Charlotte.

We tried to get Albus to be our model.

It slowly dissolved into him just getting food
(He wouldn't stay, so we tried to bribe him)

In the Studio

So I've been trying to get to the studio as much as I can… and by that I mean I've been avoiding it as much as possible. I did get a fair bit of work done in June, but that's really only because I had a class. I worked on a bunch of cups and a few lidded pieces.
Unfortunately though, everything I glazed messed up severely, so no finished pieces to show. I ran into a lot of technical difficulties this month: bisqueware cracking, glazes crawling, greenware cracking. Sigh. All in all, it was a dispiriting month and I can feel the To-Do list in my head getting longer and longer for thesis. Bleggghhh!

And I also started working on these white squares!
They were originally wall pieces to be hung but then in critique we did this
and I kinda fell in love, so I'm making big plans for them! : >

I think the answer to my problem is that I just need to simplify my life.  I have way too much going on at once.
(Uggggghh…. need to clean this shit)

Nerd Alert (In the Totally Awesome Kind of Way)

The first time I went to see the very last Harry Potter movie I was 15 minutes late. To add to that, me and the friend I went with snuck in a bottle of wine and drank the whole thing through the movie. Needless to say, I never really could remember how it ended. So Steven, Ashlei, Charlotte, and I decided it was high time we fixed this (because this is a very serious problem by our standards). We watched 7.1&7.2 and made a pretty big deal out of it. We dressed up, made a badass fort, and of course, made the most magical food we could.

(Harry Birthday Cake, Liquorish Wands, Jelly Beans, Pizza, and yes, A Sorting Hat)

Unfortunately, before I could take anymore pictures my camera died… of course. But, however amazing you think this party was, let me assure you it was even better.

A piece of our fort
(I stole this picture of our fort from Ashlei's blog. Shhh, don't tell)

Online Stuffs is Hard...

So, I've been trying to get all these things put together the last few weeks. Setting up an etsy and this blog have been my main goals, but it's all so very complicated. Luckily, I have some awesome friends who are doing all these things with me. Charlotte's working on her "racoonspoon" blog, as well as an etsy account. Another dear friend, Ashlei, is working on her "fiberluxe" blog, and Steven is working on his website along with us! I'll be sure to post their links as soon as I get them. They're pretty badass artists so I'm sure you're gonna wanna take a look.

But there are so many little details to work on and it's all so very confusing/exciting/tedious. Sigh.

I keep telling Albus to take care of it all for me but he doesn't do shit.
So lazy.
Unfortunately, Albus isn't my cat, he's Charlotte's, so I guess I can't expect too much out of him.

But look, I made a business card for my etsy and everything. I'm on a roll!

The Beginning...

November 3rd and March 1st. Both of dates sound so harmless, but they're NOT! At least not for me.

I'm an art student at Mississippi State University and about to start my last semester, so November 3rd is the day of my thesis show. Terrifying. After that, I plan to run off into the woods…. no, siriusly. My friend Charlotte is coming along with me and we're doing a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail. That's about a 5 month hike from Georgia to Maine.

So this blog is my journey from point A to B, B to C, everything in-between, and whatever comes after that.

P.S. I'm new to blogging so bear with me as I learn how to do this shit.
